When you are planting seeds and expecting good growth and harvest, you want good soil. There are things that impede or stop growth. If the seed is too shallow the sun can burn it. If the weeds take over, the plant will not succeed as intended. That is the same way with our life and minds. They are filled daily with seeds- from the media and from our peers. Good soil is difficult to maintain. Tilling, plowing, fertilizing, weeding, watering, keeping out the varmints. Who is a good husbandman- protecting the seed and nurturing it. Making sure the soil is ready for the proper seed. There is too much “sowing of wild oats” and too little cultivation of values that produce stability and strength in our society.
