I do not enjoy it, I have a hard time even saying the other word – fartlek- in public domain. But I need to increase my strength. I need to get to a point where speed does not make me feel like hurling my innards. I did a km of speed play – read – make my dog lope so he stays in front of me, where he wants to be. I alternately ran speed for a telephone pole distance and then jogged a telephone pole. That is a step up from speed 1, jog 2. Eventually I want to do a whole 5 k that way. It is so much easier sprinting after a basketball ( or more specifically, a basketball stolen from me by a better man).
